June 29, 2023 – The ARM (Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing) Institute is pleased to announce the addition of job matching functionality on its national workforce resource: RoboticsCareer.org. This new functionality connects workers and students to manufacturing jobs, apprenticeships, and internship opportunities that match specifically to their skills and goals. Job-matching is the latest development on RoboticsCareer.org that also includes a robust database of 16,700+ training programs for robotics careers in manufacturing, digital profile creation for students and job seekers, skills definition for robotics career pathways, and the ARM Institute’s Endorsement Program, which recognizes the nation’s most effective robotics training programs for advanced manufacturing.

The ARM Institute is the nation’s leading robotics Manufacturing Innovation Institute and part of the Manufacturing USA network. Since 2017, the Institute has worked with its nearly 400 member organizations to catalyze 150+ robotics and workforce projects to strengthen U.S. manufacturing. The Institute catalyzes collaboration between industry, government, and academia to propel solutions that address urgent needs in manufacturing. RoboticsCareer.org was built in collaboration with subject matter experts within the Institute’s membership consortium to address the manufacturing workforce shortage and enable manufacturers of all sizes to more easily adopt robotics.

The RoboticsCareer.org job-matching feature is unique in that it provides personalized job recommendations based on users’ existing skills and unique goals. The matching system leverages the skills that the ARM Institute’s ecosystem defined during the creation of RoboticsCareer.org, centering on three primary career pathways. RoboticsCareer.org also offers this matching capability for training programs.

With its robust suite of capabilities, RoboticsCareer.org supports the advanced manufacturing workforce at each stage of their career – from finding their first training program and entry level job to upskilling and increasing their robotics salary through new opportunities. The resource supports curious high school students who are just exploring career options, incumbent manufacturing workers who are primed for robotics roles, workers outside of the industry looking for a change, transitioning military members who are finding their next step, and everyone in between. RoboticsCareer.org brings critically needed awareness to the opportunities that exist within manufacturing.

Employers and manufacturers have the option to load their own jobs into RoboticsCareer.org by creating an account, however, jobs are also automatically added and regularly updated through information from public job sites, including USAJobs for members of the military. This data is then analyzed, and the skills listed in the posted jobs are matched to the ARM Institute’s defined skills and career pathways. More than 3,500 open jobs are currently listed on RoboticsCareer.org.

“With our new job-matching functionality, RoboticsCareer.org uniquely supports the manufacturing workforce at each stage of their career.” stated Lisa Masciantonio ARM Institute Chief Workforce Officer, “RoboticsCareer.org was built through collaboration with subject matter experts in the ARM Institute’s national member ecosystem. When using RoboticsCareer.org, you can be confident that the foundational information the resource uses is credible and aligns with industry needs.”

“Workforce development is a critical part of our mission at A3, and we are proud to partner with the ARM Institute to deliver valuable resources like RoboticsCareer.org to educators, students and job seekers,” said Alex Shikany, Vice President of Membership & Business Intelligence at the Association for Advancing Automation (A3). “Robotics and automation industries are growing rapidly. Many exciting and rewarding careers are available to those who are looking.”

“I am proud to continue our long-term partnership with the ARM Institute to help connect students to many robotics job opportunities in manufacturing,” said Dan Mantz, Chief Executive Officer of the Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation, “This extraordinary resource will provide the next generation of innovators with customized job placements at every stage of their career.”

“By using a skills and competency-based approach to job and training matching, the ARM Institute’s RoboticsCareer.org resource connects workers and students to high-value manufacturing career opportunities while helping manufacturers navigate and fill their workforce gaps,” noted Jeannine Kunz, Chief Workforce Development Officer at SME.

Supporting the Full Manufacturing Ecosystem

The manufacturing industry is facing a historic skills gap that could leave 2.4 million jobs unfilled in the coming years. This problem can only be solved by bridging the gaps that exist between the full manufacturing ecosystem, including employers, training providers, and government entities. RoboticsCareer.org does this by addressing the unique problems each stakeholder is facing:

  • Training providers gain awareness for their programs at no cost.
  • Manufacturers and employers can access a database of talent, find training programs to upskill their existing workforce, and fill roles by posting jobs.
  • Parents and students can navigate misconceptions about the manufacturing industry and better understand the opportunities that exist.
  • Job seekers can match directly to opportunities that align with their skills, saving time during a job search.
