October 1st is Manufacturing Day!

October 1, 2021

One thing we talk about a lot here at The ARM Institute is the manufacturing industry’s need to fill around 4 million jobs over the next decade. Many of these roles are for skilled robotics workers. It’s an unprecedented wealth of opportunity for anybody who’s ever dreamed of working at the cutting edge of technology alongside a variety of robots in what may be the most exciting time ever for the industry.

Manufacturing Day, or MFG Day, is an annual event held on the first Friday of October in which thousands of companies and educational institutions around the country openly invite students, parents, teachers, and community leaders to discover the exciting reality of modern manufacturing.

While it’s called Manufacturing Day, there are actually events and exhibitions throughout the entire month to show off the current state of manufacturing and what it might look like in the future as technology pushes forward.

Sponsors and Collaborators

MFG Day is an initiative of The Manufacturing Institute, and it was founded in partnership with the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association.

The event is presented by an initiative by the manufacturing industry called Creators Wanted which shares a mission with organizations like The ARM Institute to help answer the call for skilled workers.

Sponsors of Manufacturing Day include Microsoft (official sponsors of the virtual events), Emergent Biosolutions, Dominion Energy, and more.

Manufacturing Day Resources for Event Holders

Since Manufacturing Day is meant to be celebrated around the country by educators and manufacturing companies, Creators Wanted has provided resources for hosting your own presentations and events.

If you’re somebody who would like to register for an official event, or if you’re already registered and looking for your portal, more information can be found right here.

Events for MFG Day consist of a tour of a manufacturing facility, office, innovation center, or another site, or another creative student-invite type of event at a manufacturing or manufacturing-supporting site. They can also be school events about manufacturing, industry-related jobs fairs, a career day event, product expo or any similar event.
