Horizon Science Academy is a grades 9-12 public charter school based in Columbus, Ohio. The high school provides its students with an innovative world class education, rich in math, science and technology focused on preparing students to become bold inquirers, problem solvers and ethical leaders, skill-ready for post-secondary education to meet the challenges of a competitive global workforce.
HSA is an accredited College Preparatory High School sponsored by Educational Service Center of Lake Erie West and has been recognized as an EXCELLENT school by the Ohio Department of Education, receiving a National Blue Ribbon School Award in 2012. It was also recognized as a STEM School by Cognia in 2020. The student body is culturally diverse; the school’s ethnicity breakdown is 87% Black & African American, 6% Hispanic & Latino, 2% Multiracial, 3% White and 2% Asian. Moreover, 100% of the students qualify for the free and reduced lunch program.

HAS also actively pursues industry relationships to prepare students for manufacturing careers in the Columbus region. The school’s teachers are highly credentialed, the student equipment is technologically advanced, and their approach to hands-on learning actively leads to industry-recognized certifications and college credit.

The ARM Endorsement Program is a thorough process used to identify the best of the best – organizations that offer education that meets or exceeds advanced manufacturing job requirements. The program is unique in that it was conceptualized and created through its 300-member national consortium, giving equal voice to manufacturer, education providers and government needs. The Program draws upon a competency and skills framework that supports a manufacturing robotics career pathway, exclusively developed and validated by the ARM Institute national consortium. Endorsed programs receive priority listing on RoboticsCareer.org, a national capability powered by the ARM Institute that connects education seekers with training for manufacturing careers working with robotics.
