North Carolina Central University, a state-supported liberal arts institution, is a public, historically black university in Durham, North Carolina. It has been part of the University of North Carolina System since 1972, and offers programs at the baccalaureate, master's, professional, and doctoral levels. Ranked as a top Historically Black College or University and Best Regional University in the South by U.S. News & World Report, NCCU offers flagship programs in the sciences, education, law, business, nursing, and the arts. The university has 13 research centers and institutes, including the Biomedical/Biotechnology Research Institute (BBRI) and the Biomanufacturing Research Institute and Technology Enterprise (BRITE).
