Carleton College is a private liberal arts college located in the historic river town of Northfield, Minnesota. Founded in 1866, the college has an enrollment of 2,046 students and offers more than 1,000 courses in 33 majors and 37 minors. The 200-acre main campus is located between Northfield and the 800-acre Cowling Arboretum, which became part of the campus in the 1920s. Carleton College has been accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools since 1913 and is a space-grant institution.
