The Engineering, Mathematics, Mechatronics and Manufacturing focus area is dedicated to producing the next generation of a highly educated technology workforce. This focus area offers three academic pathways. Transfer students may choose from the traditional math or engineering curricula or from specializations in computer science or construction engineering. Two-year technicians may choose the advanced manufacturing program (Mechatronics Systems) or from specializations in Design or Electrical Engineering Technology. With additional courses, the technology pathway at Virginia Western can transfer to four-year engineering technologist degree at ODU or select out-of-state four-year schools. For those students who may already be in the workforce and would like to pursue additional certifications, engineering at Virginia Western offers fast track certifications in Mechatronics, industrial maintenance, machining, and manufacturing.
